In case you missed it: Yesterday’s radio monologue
Just in case you couldn’t tune into the Steve Bussey Radio Experience yesterday and haven’t been able to watch the video I posted last night, here is yesterday’s first hour monologue:
President Obama is assaulting the Constitution regularly with things like Obamacare and now this assault on the Catholic Church and other faiths by forcing them to provide things that violate their religious beliefs … for free – and I cannot and will not abide any of it …
My regular listeners and readers at Stevebussey.com know me and my background and why I speak out and do the other things that I do …
For me, it isn’t about you and me or “women’s health” but about freedom – it is about the American ideal – and those things are protected only by the Constitution bequeathed us by our Founding Fathers – it is the only thing standing between us and government indentured servitude at best and slavery at worst …
Some Democrats and liberals claim the tea party and people like me have a “fetish” for the Constitution and that may be the only thing they’ve gotten right in the past 60 years …
Like many Americans the Constitution for me is not just an abstract idea or ancient American relic but very personal …
My family military history in America dates back to 1775 with George, Thomas, Benjamin, William and Hezekiah Bussey – all of whom are my direct relatives …
The military oaths of enlistment and commission have changed slightly over the decades but have always included a pledge to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies and to bear true faith and allegiance to the same …
My great-uncle John Travis Bussey lost his life on a WW 1 battlefield having written a blank check to that constitution for everything up to and including his life having sworn just such an oath and he paid that check in full …
Several of my uncles served in WW 2 having sworn that oath …
My father dedicated the first 30 years of his adult life in military service to this country having sworn that oath – not to you and me – not to the country and not to the government – but to the constitution and he fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars …
My father-in-law dedicated the first 20 years of his adult life through that military oath to protect and defend the Constitution including service as a submariner during the cold war playing tag with Soviet subs at great personal risk – and service in Vietnam …
My brother fought in Desert Storm having sworn that oath …
I dedicated the first 20 years of my adult life protecting and defending the Constitution against all enemies and nothing else – nothing – just the constitution and I worked tactical counterintelligence and counter-insurgency in the Philippines during the most violent period in Philippine-American history since WW II …
But I wasn’t just in the military – I was in military and civilian law enforcement having sworn my life to the law and the Constitution is the Supreme Law – it says so …
My son is in the United States Army right now as we speak having sworn his life upon the exact same oath to the constitution as me and his forefathers and he has served 1 tour of duty in Afghanistan … I will have his back at home as he protects and defends our Constitution abroad
And that Constitution – the one all military men and women felled in combat for since 1789 – is not an abstract concept but the Supreme Law of the Land that my direct ancestors helped conceive in liberty and birthed by fire at great personal risk with little to gain other than a guarantee of freedom from a tyrannical monarchy …
And I will not stand idly by – as Patrick Henry might say – and watch as this generation of Americans squander possibly the greatest gift one generation has ever given another – true faith and allegiance to which was one of the only reasons America became the greatest, strongest, freest and richest nation in the history of the world …
I will not abide it! I will not defile the memory of my ancestors in that way! I will not disrespect and dishonor my father’s life by standing idle as our Constitution is dismantled! I will not dishonor my son and his service and sacrifice.
And friends – if this be treason, then make the most of it!
