The Pending Small Arms Treaty

By Steve Bussey

A lot of talk has been going around the internet lately about the Obama Administration negotiating and being ready to sign the U.N. brokered small arms treaty that people think will restrict gun rights in America – and they may be right.

Clinton-era political advisor Dick Morris has produced a video claiming the Obama Administration is ready to sign the treaty July 27, 2012 and he may be right, I don’t know. But, here’s what I do know.

The wishy-washy oligarchy of the United States Supreme Court has recently issued a couple of opinions stating that the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right and does not pertain to “the militia.” But in addition to those rulings there is a previous ruling stating that treaties, although the “law of the land” according to our Constitution, cannot confer powers to Congress not already delegated by the Constitution.

The question in this day and age though, with a Supreme Court unencumbered by original intent and likely to pick and choose precedent to follow as well as a president so willing to bypass Congress and our Constitution, is whether or not previous Supreme Court rulings on point will matter.

Only time will tell, but this web site lays out some good initial arguments to start the debate.

Have you seen this? Looks like Rick Scott is continuing to fumble his responsibilities. We really need some competent politicians across the board. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/state-regional/worst-tb-outbreakin-20-years-kept-secret/nPpLs/
